Fool Me Thrice

One is a fluke. Two is a coincidence. Three? Well, if you twist my arm I'll admit you can call three a streak. No, I'm not talking about wins, they're beside the point right now. What I'm talking about is three straight games with Jrue Holiday playing down the stretch and some reasonable lineups being played throughout. The biggest question in my mind is whether Eddie Jordan will stick to his revised philosophy against a team who loves to spread the floor like the Knicks. Full story

Game 5: Sixers @ Magic

"We got home court again, and we're going to have some fun at home." That's what Hedo had to say about tonight's game 5. Call me crazy, but I think Andre Iguodala has something other than "fun" in mind for Hedo. Thoughts, keys and the in-game discussion after the jump. Full story

Game Three: Sixers vs. Orlando

With any luck I'll be starting my long journey down to the Wach within the hour. You guys will be on your own for the game thread, but I have the utmost confidence in you. After the jump, my keys and the in-game discussion. Full story

Sixers @ Magic: Game 1

We've done the analysis, we've looked at this series every possible angle. As the Sixers have rested and licked the wounds from a long season with a devastating finish, our excitement for the first round of the playoffs has come to a slow boil. I don't know about you guys, but I'm ready for basketball. In-game discussion after the jump. Full story

Rest The Weary

This time last year I was desperately hoping the Sixers would pull out all the stops to finish at .500. I thought an even record would mean something, what I don't know, but something. This year, I'm going in exactly the opposite direction. Thoughts, keys, stats, in-game discussion after the jump. Full story

Who Knows What To Expect?

Well, we find ourselves in a depressingly familiar situation tonight. The Sixers are on the road, against a losing team, with a ton on the line. In the past three such situations, the Sixers have come out flat, then rolled over. Will this be the game where they finally wake up and start playing with some urgency? Or will this simply be a repeat of the past three, with the Sixers simply happy to lick to their wounds and back into the playoffs? Stats, keys and in-game discussion after the jump. Full story

Prepare Yourselves

Typically, I'd be pretty excited for tonight's game. We've talked ad nauseum about how the Sixers ugly/risky style of play can work in their favor against clearly superior teams. Usually, Andre Iguodala gets up for tough matchups, like facing LeBron James. And in the LBJ era, the Sixers actually haven't done that bad of a job against Cleveland. Unfortunately, after what I've seen in the past three games, none of that really matters. Stats, keys and in-game discussion after the jump. Full story

Road Dogs, Again

For the second time in three days, the Sixers are underdogs playing sub-.500 teams on the road. Chicago's record isn't really a good indication of the type of basketball they've been playing since the trade deadline, though. In fact, they've gone 12-1 at home since then, so being six point dogs seems more logical than insulting. Full story

Will They Be Hungry?

That's the question of the night. Is it enough to just make the playoffs? Are the Sixers content to lick their wounds over the last nine days of the season and coast into a near-impossible first round matchup? Or do they play like seeding matters. Do they play like they still have a golden opportunity staring themselves in the face. I know one thing for sure, the Bobcats won't be taking anything for granted tonight, they can't afford to. Full story

Put Away The Brooms

If you're looking for excuses, it won't be hard to find one. The Sixers are coming off an emotional win. Their two best players logged 45 minutes of heavy action yesterday. Thad Young is still out. Samuel Dalembert's calf still seems to be bothering him. Andre Miller's middle finger got dinged up again late in the game. Pick one or two from that list and it could excuse a loss to the Nets today. Unfortunately, there's a battle going on and to be honest, there is absolutely no acceptable excuse in the world for being swept 4-0 by the New Jersey Nets. Full story

Sixers vs. Pistons Minus A.I.

Today's afternoon, ESPN affair holds great playoff implications for the Sixers. If they beat Detroit they'll stretch their lead over Miami to a half game. They'll claim the tiebreaker over the Pistons. Also, they'll put themselves one step closer to the playoff tiebreaker over the Miami Heat. The Sixers split their season series with Miami, so the next tiebreaker is conference record. The Heat come into the day at 25-22, the Sixers are 23-21. After the jump we'll break down today's game and have our in-game discussion. Full story

Sixers Look For Two In A Row

Nine games to go, 4 at home, 5 on the road. Tonight's matchup with the 32-44 Milwaukee Bucks could be a barometer for how this regular season will end. Milwaukee played last night, typically the Sixers would look past the Bucks. Will Thad's absence light a fire under the rest of the team, or will it be the same old, same old from the up-and-down Sixers? Full story

Sixers vs. Hawks

In a season full of surprising wins, we find ourselves needing a few more as the Sixers head into the final 10 games of the season. Tonight's game, against Atlanta, needs to be the first. Full story

Sixers Return To The Palace

Let's face facts, the Palace at Auburn Hills has been very kind to the Sixers lately. They won game 1 on their first round playoff match there last season, they beat the Pistons there the past 2 times they've met in the regular season. Maybe that annoying "De-troit Basket-ball," guy gives them a little motivation. Who knows why, let's just hope the trend continues today. Full story

Sixers Must Overcome Ugly Play

There is one coach in this league who I fear, now that Jeff Van Gundy is in the announcer's booth. That man is none other than Larry Brown (AKA, The Rat, frequently in our comments section.) I don't fear Phil Jackson, I don't fear Jerry Sloan, I fear their players maybe, but not the coaches themselves. Larry Brown, though, is a guy who I think could probably take a group of five stiffs and get them to put up a decent fight. If the Sixers are going to win tonight against the Bobcats, they're probably going to have to win ugly. Full story
