The Sixers haven't returned home from their annual Ice Capades road trip with better than a .500 record since 2003. Obviously, the circumstances are much different this year, but a win tonight would poke their heads above water before returning home for a hellacious month of basketball.
At least the drama of waiting for Speights' first minute of action is finally over. The Sixers will take on the Hornets tonight at 8pm without the services of their stout big man, who was shipped out for a pair of second rounders earlier today.
On the floor, it's about time Jrue broke out of his early season funk. Jarrett Jack is no pushover, he isn't great, but he's a physical guard coming off a very strong game. New Orleans will be without their best wing defender, Trevor Ariza, but the Sixers have gained something if Ariza had actually played due to his horrid offense. Elton Brand has a fine opportunity to excel in this one if/when he has guys like Carl Landry and Jason Smith guarding him.
The tip is at 8pm, Eastern. This is your game thread. I'll be right here throughout, join me if you agree this one needs to be a win.
Prediction: PHI 97, NOH 85
