Watching the various first round games last night made me feel a little ill, to be honest. Can anyone remember this time last year?
364 days ago, the Sixers took game one from the Orlando Magic, in Orlando.
I realize the upcoming draft pick has the potential to mean a lot more to the franchise than another first-round exit from the playoffs and a pick in the high teens would have. I have to say, though, as a fan. As a guy who invests so much time into watching this team, researching them, writing about them, I hate this feeling. I hate watching playoff basketball while my favorite team is sitting at home trying to figure out how to influence the bounce of ping pong balls. It's horrible to have our GM scrambling to save his job instead of sitting in a luxury box gloating.
Anyway, just thought we could all use a reminder that we're only a year removed from playing in, and winning, a meaningful game. Hopefully, the leadership of our organization can find a way to get us back there next year, without taking any shortcuts to get there.
By the way, who was it that hit that game winner in Orlando?
