Three months later, the Sixers will finally set foot on the floor of the
Wachovia Wells Fargo Center again. The last time they played here, Jrue Holiday stuck a three in Dwyane Wade's eye to start a fourth quarter rally that was capped by Lou Williams three to seal the win in game 4 of the first round of the playoffs. Tonight, they get the Pistons.
Well, here we are, folks. Home opener with a 3-2 road record already under their belts and a boatload of momentum to carry into it. The new owners have done everything short of improving the roster to drum up interest in the team, now all that's left is to play the basketball game.
The tip is at 7pm. This is your game thread. Join me if you like watching Jrue take the game over in the fourth quarter, and don't forget, immediately following the game, Derek Bodner and I will host a live episode of SixersBeat, so tune in and call in to talk to us about the game.
Prediction: PHI 100, DET 76, blowout city.
Wells Fargo Center, you mean.
I like to call it the WTF center
Fixed, good catch. Made it home from preschool tours just in time for the game (may have broken a few speed limits on the way, as well). Can't wait.
I hope the wiz pick up their first win tonight.
The Voose will play tonight.
Hopefully it's a blowout and the bench can get some time late. I'd like to see Turner, Brackins, and Vucevic together in the 4th. I want to see Holiday deny Brandon Knight everything he tries to do. Also Iguodala/Brand play less than 30 minutes and conserve those legs.
Meeks on Gordon: asking for trouble?
Gordon really hasn't been very good, he's just taking a ton of shots. Press him and he'll turn the ball over and take bad shots.
Thad with a sling on his middle two right fingers. If we see a stepback jumper tonight...
Maybe now he'll learn to use his left hand...oh, nevermind.
In my seat and not much new.so far... 20 mins until gametime...
Prepare to be wowed.
Took the Pistons under 89 tonight. Sixers over 97 scared me too much (despite a perfect 5-0 record on overs so far).
97 is really high w/ the Pistons slowing the pace down so much. I like your bet. Was there a Jrue prop?
The book laid off the standard jrue bet, in its place they just had a bet on his points - 14.5. One new bet they had tonight was Iggy 10.5 assists and rebounds. I didn't touch it.
I believe Stuckey and BG are out tonight. No excuse for anything but a blowout.
I'm going to plug this throughout the game, but we're going to have a live episode of SixersBeat immediately following the game, so listen live, call in, etc.
I better have the Sixers broadcast for the home opener. Don't the Pistons have Blaha?
Yep, I've got Zum and Rose. Come on, get this win.
haven't seen them yet ...
Boston Strangler in da house?
Toney's there? That would be a big deal.
I can feel this enhanced game experience right through my TV.
Voose got a little bit of a "Voooooooose" from the fans. Big hand for Turner.
Thought Jrue might get introduced last, but it was Iguodala.
This PA guy sucks.
still the same ol boring PA announcement as the preseason. definitely disappointed.
Ayla rocked the anthem, individual player intros were pretty cool, new lights were snazzzy - will try to post video later
They didn't show the anthem on the tube.
Hawes is going to lose the ceremonial opening tip.
He lost it badly haha
think spencer might lose this ceremonial tip?
Pistons had to come back from the locker room. Some show, huh? ha
Yep, Hawes lost it. Shocker.
Is this game sold out?
lol, Jrue with the sex face...
I don't get around to NBA arenas, but I wonder how the crowds cheer their best players. I wish Iguodala/Jrue/anyone would get the Iverson treatment when we were in the Finals. The arena would go nuts for AI, just felt like it kind of got the team revved up. Obviously, that's wishful thinking right now.
Hope they put Dre on Jerebko, though he'll be on Prince probably.
b/c EB isn't going to want to run all around like him, he struggles with guys of his ilk sometimes
And we're off. Hawes loses the tip, for the second time tonight.
Bad start, Jodie.
Kids were screaming, what did he do?
Blocked on a jumper, lead to an easy deuce on the other end.
EB.
Ugh, Jodie.
Give Knight those 20 footers.
Jrue took too much time on that.
Meeks to the line. Glad someone went to the hole, finally.
No movement or urgency at all offensively. Run something.
Free Matt Cord
Why does Jrue always kick the fucking ball?
That's good defense. Unless there's like 2 left on the shot clock.
Spence in transition. nice job.
Nice dish Jrue, hope the crowd was into the show, so far they've forgot about the game. Dunk it or something.
Jrue long two, don't like the shot, but he drained it.
Jrue good rhythm J.
EB!
Save some for later EB, bullish move.
Man, Meeks isn't even close.
Jrue should be doubling off Knight every time Monroe catches it there.
Jodie, ugh.
Good kick out Spence, keep shooting it Jodie. It'll come.
Hawes tipped that board to himself. Nice work (seriously).
Good take, get yourself in rhythm however. Meeks.
Don't know about that attempt of a finish though, Jodie.
Stop the ball.
The ball movement is our offense is crisp and swift the last few possessions. More of that.
Transition D is awful on those two possessions, the first was because of a bad shot by Jodie.
Not a big fan of five shots for the coldest guy on the team in the first 7+ minutes.
Yeah, but it appears the offense is near-clicking and creating rather good looks though. so far, at least compared to how our halfcourt stuff has looked
No souvenir cups or programs anywhere, and about 5 rows of bleacher seats are gone for some.sort of in house band that isn't here...
Heh. I remember the house band back in the day.
Knicks trail Wizards by 7 late in 1st.
Monroe looks awfully good.
Lou for Jodie, can't say it wasn't warranted.
Thad and Lou first off the bench.
Monroe has looked good.
Thad getting point blank looks. Just don't go back to the jumpers.
AI9 long two, good. Ugh.
Another good look created, Andre deposits.
Don't like that shot, Lou.
Move the ball, Lou.
Thad in the open floor. Jrue forced that steal, blocked Daye from behind previous time down. Good energy.
Thad looks spunky tonight.
Thad has four shots at the rim in like 3:30.
Nice easy two for Thad - the new announcer sounds JUST like Lou Nolan from the flyers and the,"dream team "looks like the exact same dance team but with blue lights on them
Good rotations and D there.
Sissy hook after the shoulder shimmy! Hawes.
Awwww, Spence with the drop-step fake and turn. Hook. Swish!
SPENCER WITH THE SHAKE N BAKE
Good hustle from everyone!
Thad actually did a really nice job holding his ground against Monroe. Good help by Turner, make Prince make a contested three.
Lou to the line on the give-and-go.
Whew, nice baseline backdoor pass from Spencer.
Heh, Ben Wallace is like completely gray.
Wait, what's wrong with that (mostly grey since my early 30s)
My sides went gray slightly after the hair on top started to disappear. He should just shave it.
I got my first grey hair before my statistics final in spring of 1991
Ben Wallace looks 64 years old
Nice D, Turner.
Quick with the lateral feet ET, and then with the hands. Nice work.
good D turner!
Ahh, wasn't there, Spence.
I've been pretty impressed with the Lou-ET-Iggy-Thad-Hawes unit thus far in the season.
Loose w/ the dribble, AI9.
What a shitty foul. Bynum kills us.
Very, what I'd say, mild quarter. Now let's put your foot on the gas a little.
Do something, cause you can damn near hear a pin drop in there. I'm pretty pumped and I'm in the man cave at the house.
PHI 20, DET 19 after one.
Need better execution on the offensive end. Make some shots, get to the rim, you'll be fine.
Much better defense towards the end, sort of felt like they deserved to be up more. If they take care of the ball, nobody on this team except Monroe is really scary on the offensive end, and you can double him.
Felt like the team was going out of its way to get Jodie Meeks going and that hurt their offense at the start.
Yeah, at least very early. They don't need to run stuff for him, he just has to knock down these open threes he's getting.
Still up one. Let's jump out to a fast start now.
PS: Knicks down 24-40 to the winless Wizards. Just saying...
Iguodala and Hawes played the entire first Q. Two more at the line for Lou.
My pet peeve is guys screaming "And one!" when they miss the shot.
whenever someone i'm guarding says that i always reply with "you gotta make it for it to be an and-1"
A Ben Wallace fadeaway 20-footer a second after the shot clock expires. That's quality defense (and terrible offense)
Big game tonight Lou, erase that smirk from last game.
ET..
Ironically, the better lou does to help the sixers build a lead early, the less likely he is to be in at the end of the game when defensive stops are slightly more important?
ET!
Turner sweet shot.
He had great elevation for that shot!
I liked the needless behind-the-back dribble in traffic.
That's not sarcasm. Ball on a string.
Thanks, cause I was trying to decipher, and didn't know. heh
Bench Brigade and Co. is playing fantastic, active defense, really making switches. Well, that, and Detroit be-lowwsss offensively.
*Intelligent switches.
Come on, just completely bury these losers.
Jrue off the ball spotting up, trey.
JRUE43!!!!!!!
ET!
Thad not playing Jonas tight as he should. Come on....
Backing down Jrue is not good offense. He's a stud on D in the post.
EB didn't use that screen from Jrue as good as he could've.
Dag Lou, that felt like the Utah one......
Finally, a whistle. Like the passing between Jrue and ET for that jumper, even though he missed it.
Turner's form looks better but his shot is definitely still flat
Just keep that foot on the gas, so far so good. Up 8
Holy Hawes!
Ohhhhhh, turnaround J from Spencer! Nice!!!
Is turner really.the best rebounded on this team?
So far they've shown two history highlights films of.Bobby Jones and Moses ...but haven't said anything about those dudes being here since the.intros...
Good lord Spencer
Wow, Spencer
Wow. Turnaround j from hawes
JTI first half minutes. Nice.
Brand is fumbling lots of balls, isn't he?
Biyombo has 3 blocks in 6 minutes so far.
Started off a little slow. But they've picked it up since the big three came off the bench
Larry Frank (hearts) Jrue.
ET needs to post him deeper, either that or let him get there before throwing the entry pass Dre.
not meant there oops
I wonder if herb told turner to get a higher arc on his shot. I don't mind his shot being so flat when he shoots from the free throw line and in but you can see that his flat shot is the biggest problem with his shot now. He exerts so much more effort on longer shots then he needs to.
Oh hey its the dance team again doing another song exactly the same as last year.,.oh wait I mean the dream team..
Ayla Brown is like 2 rows over from me, may have to ask if she can get in there and rebound...
Good Lord, Turner is all over the glass.
Jerebko has been the Pistons' best player by far tonight.
Don't like the lull here. Good sub.
Turner is an amazing rebounder for a guard.
Just a too-casual too-cute dribble Andre. damn
Another sloppy dribble by AI9.
Nice drive, Jrue. Gotta finish.
Iguodala with two fucking horrible behind the back dribbles. That should be it for tonight.
THAD!
Andre, why make the pass hard like that? Bad angle on the throw.
he had the pass, Jrue didn't think it was there and slowed up a little. would have been a great play.
Shit, Jrue let off the gas just a bit on that.
I was wondering if iguodala had that tattoo on his back last year ?
They're not as in sync as much as when they started the game. Just stop rushing, and move the ball like earlier.
Actually, I thought they were very out of sync offensively at the very beginning. The 2nd half for the starters/1st part of the bench was better.
Well if they were out of sync, then they were getting some prime looks. I didn't feel the offense was being geared toward Jodie at the start, I felt the looks were presenting themselves and several guys got them, him more than some yeah, but they were good-executed sets.
I think that was a spot where Dre could have attacked. That's a really tough angle for a bounce pass.
Andrew Toney.
i must take a bow
!!!!
Deputy commish Silver and some.other league office guy just got intro and booed -big cheers for Andrew toney tho
Come on, double-digits at the half. Step on the gas again for the last two minutes.
Lou +1 on the J.
Give it to Lou, dammit. To the line for the 3rd time i think ... lets go
Nice that they got Toney to come out for the 29th anniversary celebration.
That was a bad whistle. He fucking blew it before the shot even went up. It was anticipatory.
Hmmm, was there body on that one?
This game should not be this close.
Hate Dre's shot selection. Hate it.
i think he just doesn't have any moves to get himself to the rim. he needs the jumper to fall for him to get by the initial defender.
How is that not a kick? He basically punted it.
Lou is on.
EB you've got to shoot that, turnover by Dre.
EB's fault. Should have taken the jumper.
4 turnovers on Iguodala. Bad shots, too. Sloppy, sloppy half.
Make these, Dre? what do ya say
Looks like.Ayla and her band are the halftime show, they are setting up in the weird empty section now
THEY'RE FREE!!!!!!!!!
Stop booing him, Christ. So many morons there.
I don't get it either.
Nope. what were the fans booing there? him missing the first one?
Is it Iggy? It happened when Lou went to the bench (for Turner).
Yes, it was him. They booed rather loudly on his missed step-back too.
That's just pitiful if they booed our own player just because he missed one free throw.
It's been hard to defend Iggy's play over the past few games (pun not intended)
Haha, that I agree with. You don't boo your best player though, especially when you are winning.
Probably a lot of people there who haven't been there since the Iverson years. I really hope they just get the fuck out after tonight. They saw their light show, good for them.
totally agree, good riddance, cause all this focus on this sideshow mess is not the draw of fan I'd want as the owner. They're merely fluff.
Yeah, they aren't even into the game. I wish the Sixers had a big, loud, and fairly intelligent crowd like the other three sports have here and other pro hoops teams have. I could only wonder how good they'd be at home.
ET!
Dre with another risky pass, ET w/ the nice finish.
Could have been so much better, just could've. But I'll take it.
PHI 43, DET 34 at the half. And another Piston down.
Better second half, great start, decent finish, bad lull in the middle. Up 9, another half like that and I'll be happy. Only 34 points for the Pistons.
Lou and Spence neck-and-neck for POTG at the half.
lmao at the Stevie Wonder comment. Did anyoneelsecatch that?
*anyone else catch
eff my spacebar
lol booing iguodala in the home opener, unreal
i hope doug collins addresses the strange hate for iguodala at some point.
Strange as it may be it is not a secret that for whatever reason he is the most hated sixer on the team.
OFR in the first half was bad: 96.11
DFR in the first half was hilarious: 75.99
I know lou is scoring efficiently tonight but its such fools gold to me. He kills any and all offensive flow once he decides to take control on that end. I really want to like lou's game because it is of some importance to this team but I just can't do it.
I feel the exact same way. But he's one of maybe 2-3 guys that can create his own shot
I'd be more then happy to just let jrue and evan be the main guys to create their own shot for the rest of this season.
The boos started with his second awful behind the back dribble
turnover, continued with his other turnovers and ill-advised jumper. The missed free throw was the cherry on top of a shit sundae of a quarter by Iggy.
either way, the team is winning. you don't boo your own team when they're winning the ballgame.
and in the home opener.
though this is the same city that booed Cole Hamels in his 1st start of the season.
I'm so frustrated with that. They aren't even cheering that loud when he or the team is scoring. I'm so embarrassed with pretty much everything in the arena minus getting Andrew Toney to come back.
Are you there Rich? That bad huh
Nah I'm not there, going tomorrow probably. It just is apparent at how loud the boos are through the TV and how quiet it was early. Obviously there are so many good fans there, but there seems like a bunch of morons tonight.
Collins should bench Iggy for this half. As he demonstrated rookie mistakes while Turner showed us flashes of brilliance on the court ala Iverson.
Yeah, like nobody else on the team had a bad half this year.
Hey, we all know how capable Iggy is. He's way above average, but when he plays so poorly and the mistakes he's making are dumb. We just expect more.
Cell battery dying but here come the thunderstix - and I just asked Ayla if she could go in and rebound in the second half and she said if they need her to she will!
Atta boy Jrue, good finish, Spence.
that's one play i think dalembert would screw up. nice catch, that pass was a laser.
Spence with the nice fallaway.
Jrue to Spence, again.
A Knight three is good defense.
Damnit, Meeks.
Forcing Jodie.
Good block Hawes.
and o-board, ugh he turned it over
3 on other end .. ugh
Heh, Jrue shot that three like there was no one near him, even though there was a guy like a foot away. Ballsy. Didn't drop.
whoever was guarding him acted like he wasn't there anyway.
noticed that to, ice in the veins.
Yeah, he did.
You know, I if Meeks gets a good look and misses it, that's fine. I can live with that. But in transition, taking one dribble then a contested 20-footer? That's fucking horrible.
don't think he anticipated the piston closing out on him (for some reason) but I understand why he wanted to take the dribble to get a shorter shot.
Dr. J has less gray than Ben Wallace.
Way to stay with it.
Spence denied, collects, finishes.
Iguodala with a good look, Spencer blows the first one but gets his own rebound and puts it back in.
First unit relies on way too much isolation, and that includes posting up Brand and Hawes, with the rest of the team doing nothing.
wtf spencer with the runner?
Need the bench to extend this lead here, crucial moment in game.
Thad!
Quick hook for Meeks and Brand. Immediate turnover and dunk by Thad. Nice.
Please tell me you guys saw Jrue box Jerebko out on that last missed Detroit shot. He rooted him out so Hawes could get the board. That shit is huge.
make these will ya Dre..
whoohoo!
That's a nice drive for Iguodala. Changed speeds, but no crazy dribble.
Typical Thad, coming straight off the bench, gets the steal and breakaway dunk
Come on Thad, bailed out.
Great rotation on the perimeter there. Took away two wide-open threes with hustle.
Watch out Thad, they might boo you if you dribble wildly behind your back. Considering how you missed that first one.
Ugh, somebody call out that screen to Dre there. whew
Please don't let up, now. They keep letting them get back in it after they get up by 10.
Put a hand up Dre?
C'mon guys, talk more on D. guys gettting hit on picks.
Good one Thad.
Atta boy, Thad.
1-11 on threes so far.
great work down low by Dre. slowed up Monroe and stopped the ball, then boxed out the big man and batted the rebound out to a teammate.
Miss, follow, miss, follow, make. Nice.
Spencer cleahing up. Very active. really
And another nice J from Spence.
A couple of tough shots from Detroit, long contested twos. Keep playing that kind of defense. Gotta rebound, though.
Trading hoops. How about mixing in a stop or two?
Lou.
OK, strong finish to this quarter. Put them to sleep.
did malik rose just say "channeling my inner negrodamus"?
I was about to ask that.
It's up there with "Jeff Green and Greg Monroe played on the same team at Georgetown", and "Brevin Knight is Brandon Knight's brother" as my favorite Rose'isms of the day.
That's gold. ^^
Some more scattered boos on the Iguodala miss.
boos on a missed shot? seriously? how many shots has jodie meeks bricked??
Hawes scrapping again, no luck this time though. Hell of an effort.
Nice follow Thad.
good transition defense!
Thad's been our best player tonight, by a pretty good margin IMO.
Over Spencer?
I feel like he's been pretty lucky defensively, Detroit missing a lot of bunnies. He does have 12 boards though, so maybe not by a lot. Thad's rotations defensively have been excellent tonight.
Did he just say Negro-damous
At the game tonight...times are a changing, there was a Spencer Hawes chant this quarter.
PHI 64, DET 56 after three.
Really wish they would've pushed the lead in that quarter. We've got a game and we really shouldn't.
Sixers 1/13 from three and 39.4% from the floor. Yikes. Detroit is not a good defensive team, either.
Glad they got an off shooting night against a team like the pistons
J, T, Meeks.
Jodie to start the fourth.
Long ways from over, hard finish here.
Down to 6, let's go
Was that a pass?
They could lose this game if they aren't careful.
Video interview: Julius "Dr. J" Erving gives his impressions of the 2011-12 Sixers during Friday's home opener:

Thank you Evan.
Doug's mad at Brand.
Really the elephant in the room right now is how poor of a start he has had to start the year.
finally, jodie
Hey, Jodie hit a shot!
Jodie was open, calling for it, ET fouled
Great play by Meeks to get his hand on that ball.
Good effort Meeks.
Thadunkonus!
Jodie w/ a nice steal, then fights for a d-board. Nice.
Jodie skying for another one! heh
Jodie with the good diving deflection leading to a Thad Young dunk
I will say this about Jodie, he hasn't let his slump affect his effort. Nice hustle this quarter
Can you hear the "we want Spencer "chant on tv??
Got to finish here guys, come on...
Stop with that iso crap Jrue, that's the type of play that will get them beaten.
I'd like to see Jrue go to the hole for his next attempt. See one go through the hoop.
Jo-3!
Jodie for 3
Jodie for three. And about to get the +1 on the break. Nice.
There we go, Jodie. That's so big for this team.
Jo-possible-three! it's the Hard Knock life...for us
OK, put them out of their misery right now. End this.
Turner's defense tonight has been excellent.
Nice strip for the second time tonight Evan. Good quick hands.
Another nice strip by Turner. Odd sub there, Lou for Jrue.
Jodie.
Keep shooting em Jodie. Nice form and lift.
Oh man, we could be pretty fucking good if Jodie could get going.
Bad call on that goaltend.
Spencer blocked that, no? i think he did. Yes on the replay
Damn, that looked clean on the play and it was. Nice hustle by Spence goes unrewarded.
Turner with the sloppy dribble
Fuck, back under 10. It's a good thing the Pistons can't shoot. The Sixers are giving them every opportunity to come back in this game.
Good take, Lou. Knock em down at the line.
Come on, still pour it on em, win by 20. calling it
"AAARGGHH AND ONE!!!"
Spencer, you're commanding so much respect, however reluctantly. I mean it too.
Knicks over Wiz by one, 1:50 left.
Really not a fan of Jrue being on the bench here.
Thad w/ the tip-in.
Spence nice missed J, Thad putback.
14, keep truckin'
JODIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
+ Jo-3!
17.
This is why we need Jodie Meeks people. He can help this team if he makes the amount of threes he's capable of, I swear.
Yes he can.
That's big if it's there come the playoffs. Possession games. Critical element.
Let's rest the players now, game is won.
still wish the PA announcer would go back to the JOOOODIEEEE MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKS thing instead of just the blah-ness that it is right now.
Wiz up one. Melo brick, the Wiz can't get the D-Board. TO Knicks, 28 secs. left.
J3.
4 three's in this quarter.
Pistons strangler?
Jo-3!
Six shots in a row.
THE MULLET!!!!
If you're Jodie, on a scale of one to ten how happy are you right now??
9.9
Fuck, Melo three.
Voose and the Noc!
Blowout city, folks. 11-0 run to put the Pistons to rest.
Lou Williams get LOOOOUUUUUUUUUUU
Nik Vucevic gets VOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE
Andre Iguodala gets BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Voose with the hoop!
Does Jodie get POTG for that fourth quarter? I'm debating.
BTW, guys, we're doing SixersBeat live right after the game. Listen live here
Call-In Number: (347) 324-5547
Damn, Melo got away with a blatant elbow to Booker's face to get open. Booker completely stopped playing.
I know Jodie sank the Piston ship. But to me, Spencer hawes is my POTG.
Great game for the opener. Solid D, even from the bench
Spencer Hawes.
nothing else to say
Voose for put back
Nocioni for POTG. Just seeing him and Brackins on the court makes me happy. Blowout city indeed!
PHI 96, DET 73 Exclamation point on an ass whooping, final.
Great win.
Well. One more thing, as much as I liked and like me some Greg Monroe - Spencer Hawes.
Winning feels good.
Is Stoned 81 happy? He got a great effort from Hawes and some garbage time points for Voose, but it came at the expense of a Meeks flurry.
He is lighting his Meeks voodoo doll on fire as we speak
I was at the game so I'll share some of my observations:
The fans clearly don't like Iggy. They moan whenever he shoots a long shot. They groan whenever he makes a bad pass. And they boo when he misses a free throw.
I'm not the biggest Iggy fan so I understand the negative sentiment. He's clearly not a star, especially on offense. He has such a low b-ball IQ that makes him frustrating to watch, but his defensive ability really helped us win this game. So you have to take the good with the bad.
Spencer Hawes has emerged as the fan favorite. He had people chanting his name at one point, and I was one of them.
Meeks, Young, and Turner made a lot of hustle plays that the fans really enjoyed. Whenever Meeks hit a 3, the stadium went wild. Turner also got a lot of loud cheers whenever he did something positive.
The whole atmosphere was amazing. I haven't seen the center that packed in a long, long time. The fans were into it, the national anthem was amazing, the lighting and smoke show was very cool, and even the new PA announcer was good tonight. Some of the videos they put up on the screen were great. They got the crowd really pumped. I liked how they introduced the entire team as well as the owners.
Overall a great experience and a great game. I would suggest going for any of you guys on the fence. We still need more fans at the games.
Church bells after a victory? Where is Quasimodo?
what is it, one ring for every point of the victory margin?
Maybe that will be our new mascot.
it looked like Turner hurt his right hand at the end of the game, hope it's not a big deal
You sure it wasn't one of this "I missed a shot so I will pretend like I hurt my hand" moves? He seemed ok when the buzzer sounded so hopefully he is fine.
Great game thread, guys. SixersBeat is going live in 3 minutes:
Listen live here

As happy as I was with the win over the hornets I have to say I didn't really care for this game. Maybe it's because I hate it when jrue and evan both score in the single digits.
But it was good to see jodie come back to life and spencer is starting to make these numbers he's been putting up look legit.
I'd say look at it as they didn't score and they still won big. Even if they didn't shoot well (Turner was 4-8 when the game mattered), they both contributed: 8 defensive boards for Turner and 9 dimes, 2 TO's from Jrue.
Yea they both did very good things its just that I'm convinced those 2 can be the sixers most prolific scorers and the team would be better for it if they were given the green light to do that. But whatever a win is a win right.
Spencer improved when he went to the buzz cut last year. But the beard has released his inner beast.
Jrue and Iggy with 5pts, Brand with 4pts. I thought Jrue and Brand scored more in this game. :S Jrue with 9 assists though.
Spencer for POTG
Re-sign him, Brian! No..... heheheheh
Glad we got the win, i am worried though about this everybody steps up at different times, we were reeling against a bad team until meeks exploded, meeks will not explode against the heat, bulls ect, we cannot keep going into games expecting somebody to step up.
what its starting too look like, even with lw out there is everybody is looking for somebody to step up and they are reducing themselves to role players. jrue, ai, and even et should be stepping up and when there struggling, there merely being dumped on the bench and expecting somebody else to step up, stars dont do that, im happy everybody is comfortable with there teammates but how long can this last.
maybe i should just be happy with this everybody steps up, no stars team, glad we got the win, go sixers.
Spencer is legit guys. We're all selling him short. I know an extension could cause peeps to fear the worst, but this guy is worth keeping around, doesn't make him the answer, but he's a keeper if for nothing else but age and height, agility notwithstanding.
Andre was really quiet tonight, but not in a bad way. Didn't shoot alot, which is good, but only if Meeks is hitting. Which you can't depend on, but it can happen often is they're creating looks like they were tonight.
What about Andrew Toney's appearance, finally being comfortable enough to come back home? Been a long time my man ...
I had no idea he would be there. That's really great. Watched him against Mil in the '83 playoffs the other day - he was even better than I remembered. He hit about 5 shots in a row to start the game, every one of them completely different.
I expect them to win two rounds this year, they'll be a top 3 seed with winning the Atlantic. Mark it down. Take that prop.
Doug is a magician.
I hope Adam Aron doesn't call in, he may just be too jolly.
OK there were 4 huge cannons shooting confetti at.the end.of the game -those.were pretty cool - best part of.the nite though (besides Ayla) was seeing Hawes tower over Harris right at the start!
Spencer Hawes is the shit, stating the freakin obvious!
Hey this is a question to anyone who has the league pass on directtv. I don't see the sixers toronto game listed for tomorrow....What gives?????????????????????
The game starts at 8 eastern tomorrow, not 7 (probably because the flyers have a day game)
I'll share some of my observations at the game:
We still need more fans at the games.
just got back from the game, im starting to think hawes is legit(not the shooting but the rebounding),Hawes is the new fan favorite, i think meeks finally found his shot, the new P.A. announcer sucks! he shows no emotion, glad to see thad didn't take any jumper
also, i like turner's mid range jumper but i would like to see him shoot more free throws
Agreed. PA announcer is horrible!
Andrew Toney! Andrew Toney!
