Sixers

, all the time

They were one of the best teams in the league at taking care of the ball last season

We had the 12th fewest turnovers, which isn't quite one of the best status, and if you factor in our pace, which basketball ref surprisingly says was pretty slow, it's worse than that.

12th is top half, I was liberal with the use of "one of the best."

14 per game is not a bad number.

But according to Hollinger we were actually (I don't believe this) the 11th slowest team in the league. So you factor out those turnovers over a low number of possessions and you get a below-average turnover rate. And surely you remember the playoffs. I don't know. I don't think I'll ever have any real hope for this team until Thad matures to a point where Iguodala's the third banana.

Can you find a turnovers per possession stat? That would be the best barometer I think.

Of course, if they played at that slow of a pace, then the pure number of turnovers they forced was even more impressive. Not really relevant here, but interesting.

You ought to be able to - Hollinger keeps that stat - but for some reason you can't see his 07-08 stats.

There was a basketball game on tonight? !

I would simply look at the number of shots taken per game and then look at the number of turnovers. If it is relative to the rest of the league, which I assume it will be, then Hollinger's "stats" are once again, pointless.

I mean, you have to factor in freethrows too, otherwise you're not getting all the possessions. We were only 17th in shots attempted a game, though, so on your method, we'd probably be average to slightly below average.

we have to move Willie at C, his 3 blocks are the best stat of the night. Or, better, he should take modeling, in the pic he looks great with that suit.

I didn't like our attitude and I had the impression they weren't ready to play the game, not focused enough, despite the good start.

I'm not worried much anyway, just a bad game and we always struggled vs Raptors, it was a deja vu of the games we played vs them last year

Bring on NY Guidos

I remember reading something about Iguodola taking 500 jumpers a day over the summer. Please move that up to 5000...
I hate to say it but if he doesnt develop SOME type of outside game we will have wasted 80 million dollars on a guy who is a good defender and easily wins the in-game dunk contest every night. I dont feel good about that...
I know its only one game but damn...he cant hit an open shot. If hes in the low 30's shooting in 2 weeks I say we are going to have a long painful season. Hes almost lebron-like going to the rim but that wont work all the time. Ask Michael jordan...he didnt become Jordan until he developed a solid outside game. Then he was unguardable. Man I hope this was just opening night jitters...
