This season is literally sucking the life out of me. The team's play, the performance of the coach, the front office and ownership, it's gotten to the point where only the truly devoted fans care in the least anymore. Since there's no game today, and I'm too drained to look at this current team in any depth, let's try an exercise in frivolity after the jump.
I suppose there's no reason to hang your head after this loss as a Sixers fan. They went into LA, gave the Lakers all they could handle until the waning moments and really put forth a solid effort the entire night. It just wasn't enough against this Lakers team (even if the Lakers appeared to be sleepwalking through the win.)
The Sixers will bring their four-game road trip to an end tonight at 10:30 in LA. The defending champs are pretty much cruising to the number one seed out West, though they seem to be in a dogfight with Cleveland for home court advantage throughout. The Sixers are cruising as well, I'm just having a hard time figuring out what their destination is.
Latest comment: from Tom MooreThat's a fair statement, Derek. There aren't a ton of options....
Late last night I was thinking about the Sixers and checking out various stats when a thought came to me. I've been in the camp that the Sixers have a core worth building around, or at least the beginning of one. When I was looking at the stats, and ages, of the players on the team, I couldn't help but ask myself a few very tough questions. I'd like to get your thoughts after the jump.
Derek and I will host another episode of SixersBeat tonight at 8pm. All the info and some tangential Sixers news after the jump.
Latest comment: from keep the handles reasonableA team could sign that space head Drew Gooden for the MLE and he would give you more then Elton Brand. Elton Brand is untouchable......
Win, lose, win, lose, win ... and lose. This is getting tiresome. The Sixers followed up their win at GSW on Tuesday night by sleepwalking through a big loss in Phoenix last night.
The second night of a back-to-back typically means a whole lot of trouble for the Sixers (4-9 on second night for the season). Fortunately, the Suns are also on the back-end of a b-to-b, having played in OKC last night, and their record in these situations is just a bad (4-9). Quick preview and a long game thread after the jump.
Latest comment: from JohnEMageea mediocre team playing mediocre? Who would have thought it...
It's been 15 games since the Sixers changed their starting lineup, moving Brand back to PF and inserting Jrue as the starting point guard. The team is 9-6 over those 15 games, and for the most part, the starting group has done a great job. We'll take a closer look after the jump.
It wasn't a good win. It wasn't a solid win. It wasn't a pretty win. It may have even been a dangerous win, but it was definitely a win. After blowing a 24-point lead in the second half, Lou Williams hit a series of clutch shots to snatch victory from the jaws of, well, an embarrassing collapse.
The injury-riddled Golden State Warriors are one of the eight teams languishing below the Sixers in league-wide standings. In fact, their 16-39 mark makes them the proud owners of the league's third-worst record. The teams met in Philly earlier in the season, and the Sixer picked them apart on their way to a blowout victory. Preview and game thread after the jump.
Allen Iverson's return to the Sixers may be drawing to a close. He's taken another leave of absence to be with his ill daughter. There are rumors the team is contemplating severing ties with Iverson, which is repugnant. After the jump we'll take a look at his impact on the team in his second run in Philly.
According to Yahoo!, Allen Iverson has requested another leave of absence to attend to family matters, and the team is debating whether they want him back.
Latest comment: from das411^ for the record, this guy must not be a Flyers fan!...
